Early years support, childcare and education 







In Southampton there is a service for children with special needs called the Buzz Network.  This Network collates and provides information for families, including childcare, activities, short breaks and general support. The Buzz Network is run by the Children and Young People's Information Service.


Who can join?
Any parent/carer of a disabled child aged 0-19 living within Southampton City Council boundaries whose child meets the eligibility criteria

Portage

Portage is a home teaching service for young children with special educational needs aged 0-3 years who are delayed in at least two areas of development and their families.

Groups


Opportunity Group

Opportunity groups provide structured play sessions for children with additional needs (aged 0 - 5) and to give support and short-term breaks to their parents and carers.

There are two groups which operate in Southampton, one in Swaythling and the other in Thornhill.

Sensory Stay and Play

​The group meets on Monday afternoons at Rosewood School, Southampton during school term times, and runs between 1:30 and 3:00. It is geared towards under 3’s with complex physical, sensory, medical or health needs, or a combination of these difficulties. Children need to attend with a carer, and pre-school aged siblings are also welcome to come along. See their Webpage for more details.
